Flying Phil vs. Erwin the Austrian

news24.com - Jul 06, 2004 - Cape Town - Cape centenarian athlete Philip Rabinowitz is on his way to Hawaii to take part in the senior Olympics.

He's been invited to take part and will meet the Austrian, Erwin Jaskulski.

Rabinowitz, also known as Flying Phil, has run the 100m faster than Jaskulski's official world record of 36.19 seconds for centenarians.

Unfortunately, the times were set during training runs and the electronic timing device didn't work on Sunday when he clocked 28.7secs in the Mandela Park Stadium in Khayelitsha.

Jaskulski will be 102 in September and is still active.
