AP - Nov 04, 2004 - Jacksonville, North Carolina -- More than 4,500 votes have been lost in one North Carolina county because officials believed a computer that stored ballots electronically could hold more data than it did. Scattered other problems may change results in races around the state...
...Jack Gerbel, president and owner of Dublin, California-based UniLect, said Thursday that the county's elections board was given incorrect information. There is no way to retrieve the missing data, he said.
Greg Palast - TomPaine.com - Nov 04, 2004 - Kerry won. Here's the facts. I know you don't want to hear it. You can't face one more hung chad. But I don't have a choice. As a journalist examining that messy sausage called American democracy, it's my job to tell you who got the most votes in the deciding states. Tuesday, in Ohio and New Mexico, it was John Kerry...

Damn. I goofed. My vote was entered today as a provisional ballot.
I had an absentee ballot because I had planned to be out of town this week.
Plans changed, so I went to my polling place this morning. It's a privilege and a thrill, voting day has always been exciting to me. We temporarily have the best voting system in LA, InkaVote, until the unverifiable Diebold machines are ready.
So everything is set - except I don't have the absentee ballot. They need the absentee ballot to assure I'm not voting twice. I threw it away a week ago.
My vote went in a pink "provisional" envelope. I can telephone in 40 days to see if they accepted it. Damn.

Saddam Bombed Oklahoma in 1995 - so says Laurie Mylroie. And she's one of the lunatics responsible for the Cheney administration's Iraq "plans."
She's on the radio tonight, on a call in show. I want to tell Pat Morrison how disappointed I am she would give Mylroie any airtime.
